About this speaker

As a youngster I wrote songs, poetry and made music to play at family ceilidhs, concerts and folk clubs. I spent my formative years at Dundee University studying medicine and partaking in a thriving folk music scene! Medical school allowed me to learn about people and how good communication can make all the difference in difficult circumstances. This study period included a year at the Sabhal Mor Ostaig, the Gaelic college on the Isle of Skye. My passion for my culture and learning is strong. To ensure I continued my link with my Scottish culture I co-founded The Association of Exiled Scots (TAoES) with @Ainsley Hamill. TAoES is the number one global provider for authentic Scottish Cultural Entertainment. Based in London, we teach Scottish music, language and culture via our Culture & Music School, as well as platforming Scottish Talent through performances, exhibitions and bespoke in-conversation events. We explore Gaelic and Scots Language through TAoES Productions in an entertaining and thought-provoking manner to widen the common usage of both.
